How IC Scoring Works

Individual Contributors (ICs) earn points through their work on strategic initiatives. Points are awarded incrementally at checkpoints and at initiative completion — you don't have to wait until the end to see your progress.

Point Sources

As an IC, you earn points from two sources on each initiative you're assigned to:

Source When How Much
Checkpoint Points Each time your Manager runs a checkpoint review and includes you Your share of the checkpoint amount, based on your allocation percentage (renormalized if some contributors are skipped)
Completion Points When the initiative is completed (after Admin review) Your share of any remaining base points, plus your share of any IC bonus the Manager awards

How Your Share Is Calculated

When you're assigned to an initiative, your Manager sets your allocation percentage. All contributor allocations must total 100%. Your points at each checkpoint are calculated as:

Your Points = Checkpoint Amount × (Your Allocation % / Sum of Active Allocations)

What does "active" mean? At each checkpoint, the Manager awards points to contributors who were active during that period. If you're not included in a particular checkpoint, you receive 0 points for that round, but your allocation stays the same for future checkpoints. The points are redistributed proportionally among the active contributors.

Worked Example

Suppose an initiative has 200 calibrated points and three contributors:

Contributor Allocation
You (Alice)50%
Bob30%
Carol20%
Event You (Alice) Bob Carol Pool Remaining
Checkpoint 1: 60 pts dispensed (all active) 30 pts (50%) 18 pts (30%) 12 pts (20%) 140
Checkpoint 2: 40 pts dispensed (Carol skipped) 25 pts (50/80 = 62.5%) 15 pts (30/80 = 37.5%) 0 pts (skipped) 100
Completion: 100 pts remaining distributed 50 pts (50%) 30 pts (30%) 20 pts (20%) 0
IC Bonus: 40 pts awarded (Manager and/or Admin bonus) 20 pts (50%) 12 pts (30%) 8 pts (20%)
Total 125 pts 75 pts 40 pts

Point Visibility

What you can see depends on your Admin's visibility settings:

Data What You See
Your total earned points (dashboard, leaderboard) Exact points, always visible
Your per-initiative earned points Exact points on initiatives you're assigned to
Other ICs' total points (leaderboard) Exact points, always visible
Initiative total base points (e.g. "worth 200 pts") Tier badge (Gold/Silver/Bronze) showing relative scale
Other ICs' allocation percentages Your own allocation only
Calibration sessions (votes, ranges) Part of the Admin/Manager planning process
Tier Badges: When viewing initiatives you're not assigned to, you see a tier badge instead of exact point values. Gold = High Value (100+ pts), Silver = Medium Value (50–99 pts), Bronze = Standard (1–49 pts). Thresholds are configurable by your Admin.
